Archery Specialist
Westtown School Summer Camp is seeking enthusiastic applicants for the position of Archery Specialist to work June 9 through August 1, 2025. The Archery Specialist will provide instruction, monitor, and educate campers on techniques and safety of archery, and maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive atmosphere for campers. Applicants should be at least 18 years of age or older and have or are willing to obtain a level one archery certification. The regular hours will be 8:30 am to 4:15 pm.
Westtown School Summer Camp is a traditional day camp program serving children ages 4 to 14, located on Westtown School’s 600 acre campus near West Chester, PA. At Westtown School Summer Camp, discovery and education await every child in a creative, supportive and inclusive environment rooted in the school’s outdoor education traditions. Camp staff members lead campers in a wide variety of action-based educational projects each day. Our camp programs reflect the highest standards of respect, inclusion, and cooperation between counselors and campers.
Essential Responsibilities
Teach scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time, and provide adequate instruction on archery technique and safety;- Instruct campers on proper techniques, demonstrate archery skills and teach appropriate methods to strengthen skills;
- Prepare appropriate equipment and any handouts necessary for each class;
- Assist campers, answer questions, and maintain a positive experience;
- Notify the Camp Director of any facility needs that may arise;
- Ensure safety standards are met;
- Knowledge of archery and teaching strategies;
- The employee will be responsible for setup and breakdown of archery equipment as needed and the ability to walk long distances.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age
- 2 years experience working with children
- Experience with archery
- Level 1 Archery Certification
- Employment is contingent upon successful demonstration of technical skill proficiency
