Summer Camp Kitchen Assistant

Hello! This is a seasonal position that will last from the end of May to Mid August. If you go to school and are looking for a summer job, this is perfect for you! Or maybe you have interest in learning more about commercial kitchen work. This is a great starting point. We cook. We clean. We slice. Hopefully we don't have a horrible time either! Our camp is in Goochland, so please consider commute time before applying. If you're close to us, that's great news! Here is the general list of things we do if that's what you would prefer:

• Work with Food Service Manager & Cooks to properly prepare meals, taking special care for people with allergies/dietary restrictions
• Assist with putting out food on salad bar and helping serve the meals
• Do dishes and maintain cleanliness of the kitchen
• Set tables with plates, condiments, utensils, and other supplies
• Clear tables after campers are finished dining
• Possess a commitment to safe food handling procedures
• Being comfortable with cutting fruits and vegetables
• Ensure cleanliness of food preparation and delivery areas
• Follow state health department regulations pertaining to safe food practice
• Help put stock away on delivery days
• Keep kitchen clean and in accordance with department of health regulations at all times
• Sanitize kitchen surfaces regularly throughout the day
• Wash hands frequently while working in the kitchen and in accordance with department of health regulations
• Report any accidents or injuries to Kitchen manager
• Assist in weekly deep cleaning of specific areas in the kitchen, e.g. floors, etc.
• All other duties as assigned
• Help serve both family-style meals and buffet-style meals

We serve meals for 150-200 campers each day. Shifts would be 8 hours. Come join the world of a camp kitchen!
