About The Role
Responsible for the Alternatives fundraising activities of the Firm. Position focuses on delivering Westwood’s private markets solutions to the private wealth market primarily through financial intermediaries including wire-houses, regional broker-dealers, private banks, multi-family offices, HNW investors and registered investment advisors. The Alternatives Group is responsible for the distribution of Westwood’s products in the US, Canada and Latin America.
This role will be focused on raising capital in North America by developing and maintaining relationships with financial advisors in the Wire-House/Private Bank, RIA, and Family Office channels to drive sales and AUM growth across private and registered funds.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
- Develop and maintain relationships with HNW and family office channels and support sales with financial advisors in the Wire house/Private Bank, RIA channels to drive sales and AUM growth across private funds.
- Develop and implement business plans to grow the AUM in the most efficient and impactful manner, including ongoing management of sales pipeline.
- Initiate and lead business meetings and follow-up activities with prospectives and existing investors and ensure maintenance of meeting/call notes in CRM. Help decide on the best CRM to use.
- Understand complex alternative investment capabilities across private investment vehicles and effectively communicate them to prospective clients in a clear and articulate manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the competitive landscape across investment strategies, private investment structures, and relevant private wealth platforms.
- Communicate effectively with other team members and leaders to ensure a high degree of transparency and collaboration.
- Represent the firm with a strong presence that instills trust and confidence.
- Attend conferences and annual meetings to help grow the business and meet investors.

Minimum Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- CIMA or CAIA Preferred
- SIE, Series 7, Series 63 licenses preferred. Acquiring these licenses may be required once hired into the role.
- 10 years of relationship management and sales experience with investors with a strong proficiency in both the issues they face and industry trends more generally.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
- Proficient in managing schedules; ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of client meetings.
- A standout colleague that can collaborate across sales, product, and other functional areas of the firm.
- High level of accountability and drive; self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial investment strategies, including a depth of expertise across alternative assets classes in both private and registered structures
- Strong Capital Markets Knowledge.
- Demonstrated track record of success raising assets and increasing market presence within this client segment.
- Superior communication and presentation skills coupled with the requisite level of gravitas to effectively position HarbourVest and its capabilities to investors.
- Proficiency in effectively presenting and discussing various products and solutions with clients, supporting advisors in reaching their investment goals.
