Performs specialized tasks related to the field of civil engineering and general tasks associated with public service organizations. Under close supervision, fulfills individual responsibilities and functions effectively in a team environment. Complies with engineering and legal standards and requirements. Answers basic questions from the public pertaining to departmental functions and technical matters and provides technical assistance and information orally or in writing as authorized.

Qualifications
Engineering Technician I:
Requires an Associate’s degree (or higher) in Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Engineering Technician II:
Requires an Associate’s degree (or higher) in Engineering Technology, or a related field AND two years of progressively responsible experience at an Engineering Technician I level.
Engineering Technician III:
Requires an Associate’s degree (or higher) in Engineering Technology, or a related field AND four years of progressively responsible engineering technology experience, INCLUDING two years at an Engineering Technician II level.
Engineering Technician IV:
Requires Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field AND five years of related, progressively responsible engineering technology experience INCLUDING three years working at an Engineering Technician III level OR Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology or a related field AND seven years of related progressively responsible engineering technology experience INCLUDING three years working at an Engineering Technician III level.
Years of experience required varies, depending on technician level and educational background.
Must have Background Check and Driving Record that meets County Standards.
Requires valid driver's license at time of hire and throughout employment.
Must be eligible to cross between United States and Canada.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Education or experience utilizing GIS, Microsoft Office Suite Products and AutoCAD
- Experience performing construction inspections, working with contractors and the public
- Ability to perform field work under a variety of conditions and varying work hours, including under flood emergencies
