Summary
Whatcom County Public Defender's Office is seeking a Part-Time Attorney in the Public Defender's office
This OPD SPAR grant-funded position would be an excellent complement to a private practice or partial retirement. The position is part-time, providing representation at first appearances in district court and on misdemeanor possession of controlled substance charges only.
Primary Duties :
Represents appointed clients accused of misdemeanor possession of controlled substance in all phases of criminal proceeding, including arraignments, pretrial hearings, etc.
Responsible for the investigation and preparation of each misdemeanor possession of controlled substance case assigned.
Complies with legal standards and requirements.

Hours of Work :
Variable and part-time
Approx. 20 hours / week with daily court obligations.
Salary Range : $39.26 - $57.01 DOQ
Qualifications
Criminal defense background is desired.
Background Check must meet County Criteria for criminal justice positions.
Must have a driving record that meets County standards and possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and throughout employment.
