What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Extra Help--Summer Survey Crew position at Whatcom County?
Whatcom County Public Works Department, Design/Construction Engineering Division, will hire one temporary employee for spring/summer 2025 to primarily work on a survey crew performing topographical surveys, construction staking and monumentation. The position may also require brief periods of computer work.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily in field and roadway locations throughout Whatcom County and occasionally in an office setting at a computer workstation. Drives a motor vehicle. Works outdoors in all types of weather, around construction equipment and traffic, and traverses rough terrain and inclines. Uses appropriate safety equipment and follows established safety policies, practices and procedures.
Length of Position: June through September 2025, approximately 40 hours per week. Start and end dates may vary dependent on candidate availability. Students are encouraged to apply.
Pay Rate: $21.02 per hourFamiliarity with basic surveying technology, principles and procedures is preferred.
Background check must meet County criteria.
A certified Washington State Flagging and Traffic Control Card is preferred.
Must be eligible to cross between the United States and Canada.
Must have a driving record that meets County standards and possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and throughout employment.
