Summary:
In collaboration and cooperation with the manufacturing team, the Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring that all finished products meet quality specifications. This position is additionally responsible for the direct monitoring of product at various phases of production to ensure compliance with stated standards; development and delivering of relevant staff training; collection and reporting of data and information necessary for effective quality assessment; performance of various testing and monitoring in support of quality and compliance goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working with manufacturing and compliance personnel, develop, update, and distribute quality standards for all finished products.
- Directly monitor process steps and finished product to ensure compliance with stated standards.
- Prepare written reports related to finished product quality, identified, and follow-up action.
- Working with manufacturing personnel, develop strategies for addressing product quality issues.
- Conduct or coordinate the completion of various testing (e.g. ph, grain, etc.) relevant to finished product quality in both the mill and bakery.
- Participate on relevant plant committees or working groups such as food safety teams, HACCP teams, etc.
- Sanitary inspections of equipment prior to operation along with ATP swabs (pre-operational inspections).
- Inspection and receiving of incoming goods prior to storing.
- Directly monitor quality and place product on hold if quality specifications are not met.
Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of food safety and relevant compliance standards.
- Ability to lift up to 50# unassisted.
- Ability to stand at various processes/final product observation stations for extended periods of time.
- Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
- Basic computer skills with Microsoft Excel and Word documents.
- Time Management.
