Wheaton’s Pre-College program is an engaging four-week program designed for current high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. Students immerse themselves in college life by enrolling in college-level courses for credit, while also participating in workshops, events, and activities that help them transition to the college environment. The Pre-College Residential Life Coordinator will play a critical leadership role in crafting the Pre-College residential experience. Responsibilities include developing programming curriculum in the residence halls, supervising the Pre-College Resident Advisor staff (4-8), and communicating with the Pre-College staff regarding student concerns and feedback. Program Development
- Establish programming curriculum for Pre-College Resident Advisors to implement
- Coordinate a welcome presentation and event as part of the Pre-College orientation process
- Develop assessment to determine impact of Pre-College residential initiatives Staff Supervision
- Train, supervise, and evaluate a staff of four to eight (4-8) Pre-College Resident Advisors
- Hold biweekly one on one meetings with each staff member
- Execute a weekly staff meeting with Pre-College Resident Advisors to address concerns and plan for the upcoming week
On-Call Support
- Advise Pre-College Resident Advisors and Campus Safety on crisis response for Pre-College residents
- Respond as needed to situations that arise and write corresponding incident reports
Housing Operations
- Oversee the opening and closing processes for Pre-College residents
- Assist with room assignments for Pre-College residents
- Follow up with maintenance and facilities issues as they arise; ensure that Pre-College Resident Advisor staff are proactively addressing facilities issues
Communication with Pre-College Staff
- Refer students to campus partners and resources
- Provide information about Pre-College and Wheaton College Code of Conduct and Student Handbook as necessary
- Monitor and report concerns to Coordinator and/or the staff members on call
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience with residential life or student affairs
- Availability from June 30-August 2nd
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current graduate student in an education related program
- Supervision experience
- Experience with event planning on a college campus

The starting hourly rate for this position is $18/hour.
