Job Description
Wheaton College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Professor in Computer Science for the 2025-2026 academic year. Members of groups traditionally underrepresented in computer science are strongly encouraged to apply.
We seek a colleague dedicated to undergraduate instruction in a liberal arts setting. The position entails a twelve-hour teaching load (equivalent to three courses) per semester. We are principally interested in applicants who will teach the introductory programming course for computer science majors (using Java) and introductory programming courses for non-majors (using Python). The specific teaching assignment may be adjusted based on an applicant's specialty. In addition to these teaching duties, we seek a colleague who will contribute to the community of the computer science program and bring a fresh perspective to our curriculum.
The ideal applicant would hold a Ph.D. in computer science or a related field. Applicants with master's degrees will be considered provided that they have demonstrable experience in teaching computer science. Moreover, applicants with degrees in other scientific disciplines will be considered provided that they have significant experience in computer programming and computational science.
