What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wheeling Park Manager position at Wheeling Park Commission?
Direct the operations of the park activities within Wheeling Park.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensure that all team members are attending and completing in-service training.
- Coordinate with Banquet Chef and sales manager on planning and executing banquet events.
- Be up to date with the trends in the hospitality industry.
- Oversee all operational activities. Good Lake, JB Chambers Rink (summer and winter), swimming pool, tennis, shelters, day camp
- Schedule team members in an efficient and effective manner
- Maintain high standards of hospitality service.
- Develop and maintain a team atmosphere.
- Provide efficient management of financial, personnel and physical resources.
- Facilitate the planning and implementation of policies which regulate facilities, personnel and activities.
- Participate in physical and financial planning of the park.
- Review and act on financial information.
- Coordinate and direct special functions and events.
- Develop, support and maintain good community and professional relations.
- Assist the Director of Wheeling Park in the operation of park facilities.
- Coordinate with marketing on implementation of park activities.
- Supervise the purchase, inventory and use of supplies and equipment used by park operations.
- Attend continuing education seminars as required.
- Must obtain the following qualifications - Serve Safe, Certified Pool Operator, First Aid and CPR.
- Complete appropriate trainings listed on the human resources Training Matrix.
- Adhere to Wheeling Park Commission’s safety rules and policy; refer any and all safety concerns to department manager, safety committee or human resources.
- Interact with the public with a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages subordinate supervisors and crew leaders who supervise approximately 4 full-time employees and 120 part-time employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
