What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Project Coordinator position at Whidbey Telecom?
The Construction Project Coordinator oversees telecommunications construction, renovation, and maintenance projects. This key role involves working closely with the Project Sponsor, telecom engineering teams, accounting, and construction team staff to ensure projects are completed accurately and on time. The coordinator should have strong organizational and problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of construction methods and materials. The coordinator effectively manages multiple requests and priorities, meets deadlines, and adapts to rapidly changing projects. This role is essential for budgeting, scheduling, monitoring projects, communications, reporting, and managing changes throughout the project lifecycle.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT NECESSARILY BE LIMITED TO:
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and work timetables
- Prepare and coordinate delivery of project materials and necessary permits
- Assists in developing weekly schedules with the Project Sponsor
- Oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of multiple projects
- Manage simultaneous projects and tasks.
Communication and Reporting
- Effectively communicate project status precisely and clearly in meetings and written reports
- Create and maintain various project-related documents, such as schedules, invoices, and status reports
- Maintain consistent project folder setups and an up-to-date filing system
- Exhibit attention to detail and accuracy in all work
- Display excellent technical writing and communication skills
Inventory and Schedule Management
- Verify inventory is available for projects
- Maintain and diligently update construction schedules, ensuring seamless communication and alignment among all stakeholders
- Monitor project budgets for variances and overruns in spending and timelines
Technical Proficiency
- Use established project management tools like spreadsheets and project planning software to organize and manage projects effectively.
- Perform general office administration, including printing, scanning, and filing.
Teamwork
- Deliver outstanding customer service to internal teams.
- Operate as a positive and collaborative team member.
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 2-5 years of experience in construction or utility project management preferred
- Basic knowledge of fiber optic internet construction and installation.
- Basic knowledge of budgeting, capitalization, depreciation, taxation, and forecasting
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience with demonstrated written communication and presentation skills
- Previous experience administering or coordinating medium to large-size projects across multiple teams
- Experienced with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project
- Familiarity with or ability to become familiar with the geography of the assigned service area(s).
- Ability to work outside as needed to view job sites, staking sites
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
- Must be eligible to work in the USA.
- Valid WA State driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Pre-employment and ongoing drug screens.
- Pass a background check.
- Ability to travel through the Canada-U.S. border.

Salary range - from $27.35 per hour to $45.00 per hour
