Summary:
The Machine Operator is responsible for the quality packaging of finished products. They will operate, troubleshoot, and provide maintenance to packaging machinery. They will continuously monitor the packaging line to avoid pileups/jams while removing defective products and/or packaging material. The ideal candidate is a quick learner with previous machine operation experience who can quickly implement processes/procedures and is willing to provide assistance as needed in our packaging operation.
- Shift: Hiring for 1st shift
- Schedule: 4 days of 10 hour shifts with potential overtime
- Training: All new hires will begin training on 1st shift. Once proficient, they can transition to their desired shift.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate, control, and monitor settings of packaging equipment. Equipment should be set to meet specified efficiency standards and adjusted to ensure proper weight and/or volume of product following defined specifications.
- Conduct and support basic preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment. Reporting malfunctions or errors to management immediately and relaying important information about the issue.
- Provide continuous monitoring of label placement, case codes, piece count and orientation as specified by the product standards.
- Perform quality control, follow reporting and record keeping procedures, and report problems to the manager.
- Assist in general data collection, food safety, and other system tasks relevant to packaging.
- Document processes/procedures relating to the operation of packaging equipment.
- Clean machinery and maintain cleanliness in work area.
- Additional duties as assigned.

Experience and Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent GED completion
- Previous machine operating experience in a food manufacturing facility, or similar relevant experience.
- Co-packing experience preferred.
- Experience with Bartelt-Horizonal, Combi, PFM, ACM/PCM and Klippenstein-Vertical Baggers preferred.

Food Safety & Quality Responsibilities:
- Follows the proper handwashing, sanitization, cleanliness, dress, and grooming requirements.
- Adheres to SQF, FSMA, FSA, Sanitation, GMP’s, and HACCP requirements.
- Follows the Company’s procedures and processes for food safety.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly work within a plant environment. The work requires the ability to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk and listen. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud in the plant.
