We perform sanitary sewer, storm drain, culinary water, irrigation, earthwork, roadway construction, dams, landfills, natural gas pipelines, industrial piping, and telecommunication projects primarily in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon.
JOB SUMMARY:
A Shop Supervisor has the responsibility of managing a fleet of equipment in terms of scheduled equipment repairs, parts orders, fleet paperwork, safety initiatives, and equipment inspections. Additional responsibilities include overseeing shop personnel relating to employee selection, coaching, mentoring, training, and evaluating employee performance. Effectively communicates, prioritizes and tactically manages all situations regardless of difficulty.
RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:

· Support company safety initiatives and directives for all employees.
· Perform shop and yard inspections as required.
· Perform safety meetings as required.
· Know the progress of all scheduled equipment needing repairs and the status of parts needed.
· Oversee personnel needs in relation to hiring, processes, reviews, corrective coaching, mentoring, safety culture, and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination as needed.
· Supervise the schedule and completion of repairs needed daily and weekly within the work order system.
· Review all DVIR’s generated by on-highway assets to determine the importance of repairs needed and scheduling the required repairs.
· Review and approve timecards daily to ensure accuracy.
· Approve all repairs and parts orders, making sure to double-check them for accuracy. Effectively communicates the cost of anything over $5,000.00 to the Fleet Manager.
· Notify the Fleet Manager of all equipment to be repaired by a third-party vendor.
· Oversee DOT documentation and inspection for the On-Highway Fleet.
· Oversee the registration process of distribution, removal of license plates, cab cards, and paperwork for company assets.
· Perform equipment inspections as required for budgetary purposes and/or training.
· Ensure all paperwork is completed in a timely fashion as required.
· Manage shop inventory of parts and consumables.
· Will be available to give advice and mentor employees on difficult repair issues.
· Be a subject matter expert for training needs for all levels of employees, when required on repair needs or application of assets in the field.
· Identify areas of improvement for shop operations.
· Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:
· High School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired.
· Those with an education and/or work-related credential from a secondary or post-secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.).
· Must be at least 18 years of age.
· Ten (10) years or more of repair and maintenance on construction mobile equipment, where work experience meets or exceeds performance expectations.
· Ability to read and interpret all AWS basic weld symbols and typical welding symbols.
· Comprehend a Bill of Material to determine necessary materials and requirements.
· Frequent use of basic hand and measurement tools.
· Ability to detect unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· Ability to develop, train, and manage employees.
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours.
· Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and able to lift up-to 50 or more pounds frequently.
· Able to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.
· Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
