We perform sanitary sewer, storm drain, culinary water, irrigation, earthwork, roadway construction, dams, landfills, natural gas pipelines, industrial piping, and telecommunication projects primarily in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon.
JOB SUMMARY:
Survey Technician II is responsible for overseeing the data collection and field layout procedures as directed coordinates daily with the Tech III level for assignments.
RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:
Including but not limited to the list below.
· Manages survey equipment resources, including routine cleaning and inspections.
· Coordinates and schedules work of the department Survey Manager and Tech III levels
· Compute required points, alignments, surfaces and linework for field use,
· Attention to detail and accuracy.
· Must promote a culture of safety and awareness by practicing and enforcing safe work procedures.
· Ability to teach and train Survey Tech II and Field Personnel survey field measurements techniques.
· Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:
· 14 CFR PART 107 REMOTE PILOT CERTIFICATION
· MSHA 40 HR AND CURRENT 8HR
· High School Diploma or GED.
· Capable of learning to operate Whitaker sUAS systems and software WINGTRA II, DJIm300, DJI Mavic 3E, Pix4d Mapper, Pix4d Matic, Pix4D Survey.
· Train to become proficient with the survey and grade control software namely, Siteworks, Trimble Access, GCS900, Earthworks, X-Pad and SCS900.
· Ability to learn and master image processing software for the purpose of generating accurate Orthorectified imagery and Surface Generation using Pix4Dmatic, Pix4DMapper and Global Mapper.
· Demonstrates proficiency with GNSS receivers namely Trimble models SPS855, SPS986, R70 and repeaters.
· Demonstrates proficiency with Trimble SPS930 and SX12 Total Station/Scanners
· Field compute accurate earthwork estimates and progress reports from collected data.
· Those with an education and/or work-related credential from a secondary or post-secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.).
· A minimum of 2 years of Construction Surveying working on Heavy Civil Construction projects.
· Familiar with a wide variety of Heavy Highway and Survey practices and principles.
· Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
· Ability to become familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
· Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours.
· Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
· Able to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.
· Able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely.
· Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, and the operation of equipment.
