We are looking for excellent General Manager candidates to join our management team. The primary role of the White Castle General Manager work in tandem with the District Manager to oversee the daily operations of the store, provide exceptional customer service and proactively manage the front- and back-of house team. The ideal candidate is focused on excellent customer service and excellent operational results. S/he has demonstrated restaurant leadership experience and has a passion for growing the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling team members, in partnership with the District Manager.
  • Works with both the District Manager and Human Resources to manage performance, including coaching, counseling, and disciplining team members. Communicates job expectations to the staff; plans, monitors, and reviews performance of employees; plans and reviews compensation actions; enforces policies and procedures.
  • Communicate in a timely and effective manner with District Manager about operational and human resources issues.
  • Perform regular restaurant inspections to ensure team and restaurant is meeting standards.
  • Tracks inventory and ensures accurate record keeping.
  • Identifies and resolve issues with food preparation. Helps team handle customer service issues with grace, courtesy and with the goal of cultivating happy, returning customers.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; proper safety procedures, to include, but not limited to injury reporting, conducting meetings, equipment maintenance, etc., complying with health and legal regulations; maintaining security systems.
  • Accomplishes company goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different job responsibilities; explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Minimum of 2 years of previous food service, retail, or restaurant supervisory experience

Essential Job Functions:

Supervise team that delivers effective results in the areas of quality, guest service, food cost, labor cost, safety, security, cleanliness and product preparation.

Manage the execution of all Company policies, procedures, programs and systems

Ensure objectives are reached in all areas while following all Company guidelines.

Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws and ethical business practices

Creates and maintains an "Employer of Choice" environment

Provides leadership, direction, training and development to the restaurant team.

Supervising and directing the workforce

Making staffing decisions such as, hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, discharging, staffing and scheduling

Managing the store’s financial performance

Communicate with your Area Director/Area Manager regarding corporate business objectives, issues, requirements,

Make recommendations to enhance restaurant operations.

Responsible for promoting vision by coordinating and implementing marketing activities in the local community to enhance community relations.


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Managerial experience in quick service restaurant environment with demonstrated ability to ensure guest satisfaction and ability to train and maintain an on-going guest service delivery.

Develop and implement processes to optimize restaurant sales and cash flow.

Demonstrated ability to analyze financial information, costs, inventory and sales to achieve maximum profit potential. Ability to articulate variances.

Knowledge of methods of establishing appropriate internal controls to ensure staff integrity and quality assurance.

Demonstrated ability to be a leadership partner with other managers and staff, and to provide quality service to guests.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with effective follow-through.

Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead staff to achieve organizational goals.

General knowledge of computers, POS systems, various electronic devices, and various software.

Ability to perform basic business math skills. Cash handling skills desired.

Excellent organizational skills for keeping detailed records, reports and logs.

Demonstrated ability to visually assess and evaluate safety hazards in the work place as mandated by company safety procedures. Ensure OSHA, local health and safety codes and company safety policies are met/followed.

Ability to communicate, develop and maintain a close, effective relationships colleagues, department managers, partners and the public.

Implement training and development plans and train staff


Total Guest Satisfaction:

· Ensures that the restaurants consistently deliver the highest quality products, service and cleanliness possible.

· Evaluates their restaurant's Quality, Service, and Cleanliness every day.

· Provides regular feedback and coaching to their team members on areas that need improvement.

· All activities and decisions are completely focused on and driven by the guest's needs.

· Hires high quality people who demonstrate and ensure consistent guest satisfaction

Training and Development:

· Continuously works to improve the skills, knowledge, and moral of all employees within their supervision. Ensure all employees receive the necessary training and support to perform their duties to high expectations.

· Prepares qualified employees for promotion to the next position. Continually develops adequate numbers of Persons in Charge and future GM's to meet restaurant objectives and company goals.

· Treats all employees with dignity and respect; creates an environment where the entire restaurant team does the same and empowers team members to succeed.

· Trains, coaches, and provides regular performance feedback (both positive and corrective) to motivate and improve the performance of all employees.

· Communicates and supports company goals, decisions, and directives; follows up to ensure understanding.

Effective Business Management:

· Works to maximize the financial performance and profits of the restaurant under their supervision.

· Develops and executes business plans (key elements include financial responsibilities, labor and food planning, P&L budgeting, and local store marketing) to attain restaurant results.

· Analyzes restaurant performance and initiates appropriate corrective actions when deviations occur from expectations.

· Effectively utilizes available systems, procedures, and technology to meet business objectives.

Requirements:

· High school diploma or work experience equivalent. College Degree preferred.

· Excellent verbal and written communications skills; is capable of communicating effectively with guests and employees. Bilingual skills a plus.

· 2 to 3 years minimum in management positions. Preferably restaurant experience including full service, fast casual or quick service restaurants.

· Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record; must have proof of insurance.

· Must have a telephone or other reliable means of communicating with all employees; must be accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Must maintain an open door policy with all employees.

· Basic knowledge of computers.

· Financial/analytical aptitude including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and P&L management.

· High sense of urgency; self-motivator.

· High level of team building skills.
