Job Description
The Custodial Head of Maintenance is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors at our K-6 elementary school. This individual will participate in the daily custodial needs of the school, oversee maintenance operations, and collaborate with the principal on school projects. A key responsibility will be assisting the principal on determining potential projects, repairs, or improvements that need to be made in the school or around the school campus, as well as coordinating with contractors and attaining quotes for these projects.
This is a fulltime position with occasional evening or weekend hours for emergencies or special projects.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position :
uF0A7Facility Maintenance and Repairs
Provide daily maintenance and upkeep of school buildings, grounds, and equipment as outlined in the facilities maintenance plan.
Perform routine inspections to identify and address maintenance needs.
Conduct minor repairs and coordinate larger projects requiring outside contractors.
uF0A7Custodial Leadership
Supervise custodial staff, assign tasks, and ensure high standards of cleanliness.
Develop and maintain cleaning schedules for classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas.
Train custodial staff on safety procedures and proper use of equipment.
Ensure that breakfast and lunch are set up and then cleaned up properly each day.

Assist the principal in planning and coordinating school improvement projects.
Communicate with contractors to schedule work, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with school and district standards.
Maintain accurate records of projects, budgets, and timelines.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Respond promptly to emergencies, such as leaks, power outages, or security concerns.
Maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies, work with office manager to reorder as needed.

Act as a liaison between the custodial team, school administration, and district facilities committee.
Attend school meetings as needed to provide updates on maintenance and project statuses.
Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Job Requirements
Educational Experience :
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training preferred.
