Compass Program Coordinator

Position Summary

The Emergency Department (ED) Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring a smooth experience for patients and families in the WPH Emergency Department. He/she will be responsible for rounding on all ED patients, problem solving, working with the clinical team to anticipate and escalate issues, and serving as a communicator between clinicians and patient/families.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:

1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.

2. Trains, schedules and manages Navigator staff.

3. Works closely with Major Gift Officer/Director of Development to oversee strategy around follow-up

communication with patients.

4. Build navigator program tying in with all necessary departments.

5. Build grateful patient program.

6. Greet VIP individuals when they are in hospital, provide a non-clinical level of care and appropriate amenties to ensure an excellent hospital experience.

7. Follow up after patient/family leaves hospital.

8. Identify and flag VIP's (with permission) so Navigator is alerted.

9. Respond to CEO, board members and elected official's requests for patient visitation.

10. Answer all requests and track these individuals for information or visitation by CEO, CNO or other hospital

leaders as needed.

11. Utilize Raisers Edge for tracking donor visits.

12. Work closely with nursing and medical staff to build grateful patient program.

13. Strategize with Executive Director, Foundation and Major Gift Officers to build physician and clinical staff

support for Compass Program and fundraising generally.

14. Work with ED to develop program and educate medical staff regarding the importance of donor ID, cultivation.

15. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Hospital Experience required
• Must be able to arrive to hospital within 20 minutes of request
• Must be willing to carry beeper or other similar device to respond to donor and leadership requests
• Professional or volunteer fundraising experience
• Executive presence with warm, inviting patient centered attitude.
• Knowledge of or experience at White Plains hospital a plus.

Second language is a plus.

Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment

• May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
• Ability to remain stationary for extended periods using computer.
• Must be able to move about the department and hospital constantly.
• Requires continuous communication with patients, staff and visitors of all educational levels.
• Requires frequent use of computers and other office equipment.
• Must be able to adapt to a high stress environment with frequent interruptions
