The White River Valley Supervisory Union is seeking a full time Middle School Literacy Interventionist to provide learning opportunities to the students in our district, beginning July 1, 2025. The White River Valley Supervisory Union is located in the beautiful and picturesque White River Valley of Vermont. The White River Valley is approximately 25 minutes from Killington/Pico Ski Resort and 12 miles from Saskadena Six ski mountain. The White River flows through our districts making canoeing and kayaking very convenient after work or on the weekends. Hiking trails are plentiful. Middle School Literacy Interventionist
White River Valley Middle School (Grades 6–8)
White River Valley Middle School is seeking a qualified 1.0 FTE Literacy Interventionist to support students in grades 6–8 in developing the skills and confidence necessary to become strong, independent readers across all content areas. This position plays a vital role in improving student achievement in literacy through both targeted intervention and collaboration with teaching teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement small-group and individual literacy interventions for students in grades 6–8
Use diagnostic tools such as FastBridge and Track My Progress to monitor student progress and guide instruction
Work with the school team to develop and implement Targeted Intervention Plans for students needing additional support
Support universal literacy instruction by collaborating with classroom teachers across disciplines
Facilitate reading strategy instruction focused on comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and critical thinking
Participate in the school’s Advisory program, building relationships with students and supporting their academic and social growth
Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues to ensure coordinated support
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as a reading specialist or literacy interventionist
Deep understanding of adolescent literacy development
Familiarity with current reading assessments and data-driven instruction
Strong collaborative and communication skills
Student-centered mindset with a commitment to equity and inclusion
