JOB DESCRIPTION:
The MFG IT Engineer supports the seamless integration of IT systems and technology into manufacturing processes to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and reliability. They work closely with manufacturing teams, automation engineers, and IT departments to deploy, maintain, and optimize systems that support production.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
IT Infrastructure Management
- Oversee and maintain the IT infrastructure in manufacturing environments, including servers, networks, and devices used on the shop floor.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of manufacturing execution systems (MES) and other critical applications.
System Integration
- Integrate IT systems with operational technology systems like PLCs, SCADA, and other automation tools.
- Develop and implement solutions for real-time data acquisition and analysis.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to optimize manufacturing processes through technology.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement software solutions.
Data Management
- Support data collection, storage, and analysis for reporting and decision-making.
- Maintain data security and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Troubleshooting & Support
- Provide technical support for IT-related issues in manufacturing, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network problems in a timely manner.
Project Management
- Lead or participate in projects involving the implementation of new technologies or systems.
- Develop project timelines, manage resources, and ensure successful execution.
Cybersecurity
- Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures to protect manufacturing systems from threats.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with security protocols.
Required Skill Sets:
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in IT systems, databases, and networks.
- Knowledge of manufacturing execution systems (MES), ERP systems, and industrial automation software.
- Familiarity with programming languages like Visual basic, Python, SQL, or Java.
Analytical Skills
- Ability to analyze and solve complex technical issues in manufacturing environments
Interpersonal Skills
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Knowledge of Industry Standards
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
Desired Skill Sets:
- Ability to self-direct and prioritize projects as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- Can self-direct while prioritizing projects to meet business needs
- 3–5 years Post College in IT roles, preferably within manufacturing or production environments.
- Proficient understanding of network hardware and switch configuration
- Visual Basic, SQL and Python
