About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager with a strong sales orientation, business development expertise, and preferably a technical background in electrical engineering, EV charging, or fleet management and operations. This role is instrumental in driving revenue growth, fostering strong client relationships, and managing the pre-sales process for municipal and utility fleet electrification projects.
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of business acumen and technical proficiency, particularly in electrical systems, EV infrastructure, or fleet management. A proactive approach is essential, with the ability to identify and engage key decision-makers, coordinate quotations, and collaborate with various stakeholders—including government fleets, OEMs, installation teams, and internal departments—to drive strategic sales and act as a trusted industry partner.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Identify, engage, and secure business opportunities with municipalities and utility fleet operators for EV charging infrastructure solutions.
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and market expansion targets.
Pre-Sales & Technical Sales Support
- Assess prospective clients' charging needs, infrastructure limitations, and fleet electrification roadmaps to develop tailored proposals.
- Provide consultative sales support, guiding clients through the technical aspects of EV infrastructure solutions.
Quote Development & Stakeholder Coordination
- Gather and present comprehensive pricing, installation, and commissioning quotes from charger manufacturers, electrical contractors, and infrastructure providers.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.
Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain strong long-term relationships with clients, OEMs (chargers, vehicles, infrastructure), installation teams, and internal departments.
- Actively seek opportunities for upselling and expanding service offerings.
Consultative Selling & Strategic Growth
- Serve as a trusted advisor, educating clients on EV charging technologies, best practices for fleet electrification, and operational considerations.
- Develop strategic solutions that align with client needs and business objectives.
Market Intelligence & Industry Trends
- Stay abreast of EV industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitive landscapes to identify new business opportunities.
- Maintain a competitive edge by leveraging market insights to refine sales strategies.
Required Skills & Experience (Ranked by Importance)
- Sales & Relationship Management – Demonstrated success in business development, pre-sales, or sales roles involving technical or infrastructure solutions, with a strong ability to build trust and close deals.
- Stakeholder Coordination – Proven ability to manage relationships with multiple stakeholders, including customers, OEMs, installation teams, utilities, and internal departments.
- Pre-Sales & Quoting Expertise – Experience in developing and managing quotations, proposals, and pricing structures for complex technical projects.
- Technical Acumen – Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or relevant technical experience in EV charging and/or fleet management.
- Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting – Ability to navigate and resolve challenges across multiple disciplines (electrical, telecommunications, software) to support project execution.
- Self-Motivated & Strategic Sales Approach – Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment, proactively identifying business opportunities and driving sales growth.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Adaptability & Flexibility – Comfortable working with evolving customer requirements, changing project scopes, and emerging EV charging technologies.
- Knowledge of EV Charging Protocols & Infrastructure – Familiarity with OCPP, charging network management, and fleet depot charging strategies.
- Industry Experience – Prior experience in EV charging infrastructure, electric vehicle OEMs, or fleet electrification projects.
- Government & Utility Fleet Connections – Established relationships with municipal fleet managers, utilities, or government agencies involved in electrification initiatives.
