Job Description :
- Plan and implement professional psychological service programs of a non-medical nature in the facility.
- Coordinate and direct the activities of personnel providing psychological services to inmates / residents.
- Conduct psychological screenings and assessments based on record reviews and clinical interviews with inmates.
- Work as part of a mental health team, conferring with other clinical staff to ensure integrated treatment activities and patient care follow-through.
- Provide treatment to inmates by developing, implementing, and modifying individual treatment plans based on evaluations of needs and functioning levels.
- Make regular rounds in segregation or other confined housing areas to assess inmate adjustment and mental health treatment needs.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques through treatments and activities for individuals in caseload.
- Provide appropriate mental health assessments, counseling, and confrontation avoidance interventions for inmates in crisis.
- Consult with psychiatry, mental health, nursing, medical, educational, chaplain, security staff, and others, as applicable, to gather information and understand reasons for escalating problem behaviors and changes in mental health conditions of inmates.
- Perform fingerprinting on the first day, followed by eligibility for guaranteed hours while clearance is pending.
