Job Summary:
As the Microsoft SQL Server Database Admin, you will be responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of the MS SQL Server databases, which reside on both AWS and Azure. There will also be a Redshift Server component to this role. This role will focus heavily on security and business continuity. This is an in-office position, with some flexibility.
Experience in the Energy trading field will be beneficial.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor both SQL Server and RedShift databases/servers to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
- Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime.
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks, such as index rebuilding, query optimization, and database tuning.
- Proactively identify and resolve database performance issues and bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective use of database resources.
- Develop and implement database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data.
- Monitor and analyze database and server performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Plan and execute database migration and upgrade projects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database/server related problems in a timely manner.
- Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a DBA/Server admin role, with a minimum of 5 years experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
- Strong planning and task management skills
- Strong experience as a DBA and Server Admin.
- In-depth knowledge of SQL Server and AWS/Redshift database administration, including database design, installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery solutions, such as database mirroring, log shipping, and clustering.
- Knowledge of database security best practices and the ability to implement and enforce security measures.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
