The Help Desk Technician performs a variety of functions relating to Information Systems Support and Plant Services to assure quality of operations throughout Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics. Specific areas of responsibility are within the realm of communications equipment, computer network cabling and hardware, various office equipment connected to communications or network systems, nurse call equipment and wiring, wireless system components, computer problem troubleshooting, and computer network troubleshooting. Additional responsibilities are within the realm of electrical and electronic installations and troubleshooting on various systems throughout the entire facility.

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance Standards
- Provides tier I technical support through the IS department’s help desk system.
- Maintains and troubleshoots systems to include, but not be limited to: security, nurse call, fire alarm, communications systems, automated office equipment, video systems, clock systems, radios, phone systems and phones, etc.
- Works in conjunction with the IS Manger and Lead Help Desk Technician to install equipment as needed, but with a focus on equipment with Information Systems and people interfaces.
- Works in conjunction with the IS Manager and Lead Help Desk Technician to train staff on equipment with Information Systems and people interfaces.
- Performs other maintenance mechanic tasks as assigned and as needed according to workload of facility.
- Works in conjunction with IS Manager and Lead Help Desk Technician to read and interpret engineer and architect drawings to advise on impacts of decisions being pondered for future or current work as it relates to areas of expertise.
- Works with IS Manager and Lead Help Desk Technician on maintenance of computers, printers, faxes, networking equipment and other IS equipment as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Associate degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience.
- A current unrestricted driver’s license.
- Understanding of simple mathematical calculations.
Preferred
- TIAA , CCNA, Network , CISSP, MCSE or PDC.
- Two (2) years of experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position is primarily worked in a clinical and office environment. The position will require the ability to lift, and carry, up to 50 pounds and push or pull over 50 pounds. The position will require bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, reaching overhead, sitting and standing frequently. Occasionally the position requires climbing, kneeling and crawling. The position requires continuous finger dexterity and fine manipulation. All basic life functions such as hearing, seeing, speaking, standing and walking are required.
The employee must demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay Range:
$26.00 - $45.50
Compensation: New hires should expect to start at the lower end of the range; actual pay offered will vary based on years of experience.
