Position Summary
The Teacher Education Program housed in Whitworth’s School of Education seeks two (2) full-time lecturers for the 2025-2026 academic year. The successful candidates will join a vibrant academic community committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, all rooted in the university’s mission of equipping students to honor God, follow Christ, and serve humanity. These one-year positions are designed for candidates who are passionate about engaging students and educating future K-12 teachers.

Core Responsibilities
The primary teaching responsibilities covered by these two lecturer positions include classroom management, instructional methods, differentiation, second language acquisition, and multi-lingual learner language instruction. One lecturer position will also carry the coordination of our student teaching program. An ability to be successful in several of these areas is a plus. The annual teaching load is 21 credits.
Lecturers are invited to participate in departmental and university-wide governance, faculty development activities, and academic advising.
Qualifications and Core Competencies
- A masters or doctoral degree in Education, a closely-related field, or instructional content area is preferred
- Evidence of promise in effectiveness at college-level teaching (demonstrated effectiveness preferred).
- Proven performance or experience in one or more of the following areas: multi-lingual learner language instruction, student teaching coordination, pre-service teacher supervision, instructional methodology, language acquisition, and classroom management.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
- Demonstrated capacity to work across disciplines and collaborate with colleagues in different programs.
- A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning.
- A commitment to the educational mission of Whitworth as a Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church.
