Job Summary There are 4 male autistic individuals who attend a day program in Brooklyn and live in Windham. Seeking Pt 1st shift, Pt 2nd shift, FT 1st shift and 1 FT 2nd shift. Please specific which position you are interested in. Must have experience with Autism to be considered.
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and autism. This position involves providing compassionate care and support to individuals in various settings, including daily living facilities . The DSP is responsible for implementing care plans, assisting with daily living activities, and fostering an environment that promotes independence and personal growth. Autism experience is a must!
Responsibilities
- Assist Autistic individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs and preferences.
- Provide support in social interactions and community engagement to encourage social skills development.
- Monitor client behavior and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive care.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to caregiving for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is preferred.
- Knowledge of care plans and the ability to implement them effectively.
- Background in assisted living or long-term care settings is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is desirable but not mandatory; training may be provided.
