Wholesale Produce Supply is fast-paced regional produce distribution business, seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist for its Minneapolis, MN headquarters.
Job Overview: This individual will work closely with our accounting and purchasing teams and report directly to the Controller. We require a self driven individual with excellent time management skills and ability to move frequently from task to task.
Essential Qualifications
- Ensure PO’s issued and receiving documents match vendor invoices, research and reconcile any differences.
- Obtain appropriate supporting documents, verifying approval of vendor invoice prior to payment.
- Charge expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoices and supporting documentation.
- Ensure timely payments to vendors.
- Monitor AP Aging and other payables reports.
- Update and maintain vendor database.
- Reconciliation of vendor statements and obtain support for missing payments.
- Assist in Month End close process.
- Drive new ideas and efficiencies while balancing with key elements of existing practices.
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in an accounting department, specifically in an accounts payable role.
- Associates degree or equivalent work experience.
- Detail oriented, organized and diligent in completing responsibilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both internally and externally.
- Strong data entry and math skills, with the ability to question and challenge information and support as necessary for the role.
- Team player with flexibility and desire to take on additional roles and responsibilities.
- Able to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Aptitude to learn and work on industry specific software.
- Experience in food and/or distribution business a plus.
