Overview:
WholeTrees Structure seeks a Product Sales Manager with a strong commitment to relationship building, a passion for sustainable design, and a temperament for innovation. This position serves the diverse needs of a cutting-edge solid structural timber (SST) products company. You will be participating in the company’s sales strategy as a manager of incoming inquiries through to the estimation process, with specific focus on existing and future distribution partnerships. This includes partnering with the WholeTrees sales team to support one another, and successfully driving the sales process through to a signed purchase order. Responsibilities include maintaining and growing relationships with playscape-oriented distribution teams, intaking project inquiries such that data collected leads to accurate project estimation, using the company’s pricing model to estimate projects and delivering closed contracts among a dynamic team with a passion for forests and mass timber construction.
Applicants should have at least 5 years of product sales experience and an understanding of the construction industry, as well as sustainability trends in building. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to read and interpret construction plan sets, understand the landscape architecture industry, provide exceptional customer service, and build lasting relationships with external partners.
This is a full-time position, ideally based in Wisconsin or Maine. If location allows, you will be expected to work at our Westby (WI) Madison(WI) or Ashland (ME) office as well as remotely from your home, and be available to Wisconsin staff and partners across time zones throughout the United States
Activities include:
- Drive sales of WholeTrees playscape and construction products from incoming inquiries and through distribution teams
- Generate interest and increased specification of projects through distribution partners, follow up on existing prospects, and educate teams and clients on product offerings
- Develop an in-depth understanding of all the aspects of WholeTrees products including forestry, sustainability, design, commercial commodity trends, playground/parks/construction markets, and deliver authentic presentations to potential clients
- Build lasting relationships with partners and customers including architects, landscape architects, innovative owners, general contractors, engineers and more
- Support the Communications Department as it manages and maintains product CAD libraries and sales tools for various product lines
- Generate qualified sales opportunities, support project teams through specification, and close sales
- Estimate and quote new and current pipeline projects based on design plan sets and client needs
- Effectively develop and maintain strong professional relationships with playscape-oriented distribution partners
- Maintain adept understanding of the latest architectural, playground, and ASTM playground standard trends to support sales strategy
- Utilize existing CRM workflows and participate in sales meetings
- A proven track record in sales or project management, preferably in a relevant construction field
- Technical background in building materials, forestry, engineering, or construction
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly public speaking
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work through complex design challenges
- Motivation, drive and self-starting attitude
- Ability to work effectively alone and as part of a team, both in-person and remote
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, take initiative and manage time effectively to meet company goals
- Exceptional technology skills with willingness to learn new programs
- Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
Compensation & Management:
Salary will be commensurate with experience with opportunity for advancement. After the first 30 days of full-time employment, a full benefits package will be provided including paid holidays, accrued paid time off and a health benefit package.
