Job Title: Hilltop Outreach Specialist
Job Description: The Hilltop Outreach Specialist is responsible for furthering WAAL’s mission of saving animals in crisis by building relationships and facilitating community outreach events in the Hilltop community.
Direct Supervisor: Community Outreach Manager
Salary and Work Schedule: This is a part-time position with an expected 30-hour work week. Starting pay of $19/hour, negotiable based on training and experience. This position will have a varying work schedule but will be expected to work on Saturdays.
Responsibilities:
- Cultivating and maintaining long-term relationships within the Hilltop community
- Responsible for responding to all emails, phone calls, and text messages for the Animal Care Collective (ACC).
- Distribute pet supplies to the community as needed.
- Organize and facilitate the monthly pet food handout in Hilltop.
- Create and follow through with appropriate marketing strategies for ACC activities.
- Maintain all pertinent record keeping required for the PetSmart Charities grant.
- Attending all required meetings, ZOOM calls, etc for the PetSmart Charities grant.
- Keep and provide statistics as required
- Assisting with WAAL fundraisers and other events as needed
- Assisting with WAAL community outreach programs as needed
- Organizing educational events for the Hilltop community
- Attending and participating in community events for the Hilltop community
- Any and all other duties as designated by the Executive Director
Requirements:
- Must have a valid Kansas driver’s license (or the ability to acquire one within 30 days of hire)
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficiency in basic computer operations (Microsoft Office) and/or ability to learn other specialized programs (ShelterLuv, PetPoint, Auctria)
- Proficiency in social media (primarily Facebook)
- Strong work ethic
- Strong ability to multi-task
- Strong ability to problem solve and prioritize problems
- Strong ability to operate well under pressure
- Strong ability to be able to adapt to rapidly changing environments
- Possesses strong organizational skills
- Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals with a variety of backgrounds in a nonjudgmental way
- Ability to utilize interpreters or Google Translate to speak to non-English speakers
- Possesses the ability to self-motivate and make independent decisions as needed
- Ability to follow established medical protocols
- Schedule flexibility as this position will require some evenings, weekends, or early mornings as needed.
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds
- Must be able to physically move/carry animals, kennels, large bags of pet food, etc.
- Must be able to squat, get up and down on the floor with animals, etc.
- Must be willing and able to work in various weather conditions as needed
Preferred:
- Possess a general knowledge base on animal medical issues
- Possess a general knowledge base on animal behavior issues
