We’re seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Development Director with exceptional communication skills to join Wichita Habitat for Humanity. The ideal candidate is a go-getter who thrives on building relationships, managing multiple fundraising projects in a fast-paced environment, and leveraging data-driven strategies to meet goals. Responsibilities include overseeing events, campaigns, grant applications, and donor engagement while utilizing CRM fundraising software to optimize efforts. Strong multitasking and leadership skills are essential to motivate the development team, volunteers, and direct reports. Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan in collaboration with the Executive Director, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Build and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and HFHI national partners. Manage donor engagement and recognition through events, communications, and personalized outreach.
  • Donations Management: Cultivate and track donations, ensuring proper recognition and coordination with relevant team members.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise the Development Associate, providing mentorship, clear direction, and consistent performance evaluations.
  • Data and Analytics: Utilize CRM tools to maintain donor records, analyze trends, and develop a donor analytics dashboard to track key metrics such as donor retention, acquisition, and lifetime value.
  • Grant Management: Identify, prepare, and manage grant applications and reporting, including opportunities from HFHI, foundations, and government programs.
  • Corporate Partnerships: Collaborate with local businesses to align their corporate social responsibility goals with WHFH’s mission, creating tailored sponsorship packages.
  • Event Management: Plan and execute signature fundraising events, such as Women’s Build and Air Capital Build, working closely with community volunteers and staff.
  • Collaboration: Partner with the Executive Director, Marketing & Communications Manager, Community Outreach Manager, and other departments to ensure cohesive and impactful fundraising initiatives.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to HFHI’s fundraising requirements and industry standards, maintaining WHFH’s presence on platforms like GuideStar and Charity Navigator.

  • Proactive and able to demonstrate leadership in a team-oriented environment to meet organizational needs.
  • Proficient in using office equipment, multi-line phone systems, internet, and email.
  • Competent in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint), CRM/fundraising software, and the ability to learn new software as needed.
  • Able to effectively present WHFH’s philosophy and programs to the public, homeowners, and potential volunteers; promote the ReStore and maintain a positive public image.
  • Creative thinker, open to new approaches, able to collaborate, work independently, and eager to learn new skills.
  • Broad knowledge in fund development, grant writing, administration, database management, and community relations.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring staff and volunteers, ensuring clear communication, accountability, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.


Education, Training and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, nonprofit management, or other related field or experience resulting in equivalent level of knowledge is required.
  • At least four (4) years of demonstrated success in fundraising, donor cultivation, and major gifts management. At least 2 years of fundraising within a non-profit organization.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in multiple settings, with an accomplished track record of fundraising and public speaking success, including experience in mobilizing volunteers, paid staff, and associated constituents toward a mission.
  • A valid driver’s license is required if driving to perform company business. Reliable transportation required for periodic travel around the city for development meetings, community meetings and Habitat sponsored events.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check.

  • The position involves frequent use of a computer and office equipment, such as a copier and printer.
  • Regular communication with colleagues and community members is necessary to collaborate and provide accurate information.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. may be required.

Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
