Job Story
Set within the College of Fine Arts, the Media Arts’ collaborative design concentration is an interdisciplinary program that teaches the importance of cooperative efforts among creatives and designers. The program combines design thinking with elements from the other Media Arts concentrations, allowing students to tailor a degree to their unique interests.
One of only a handful of degrees in the United States that focuses on acting for the digital arts, animation, audio production, collaborative design, game design and filmmaking.
We are seeking a professional for a new opportunity we have to join our team of dedicated educators.
Job Summary
Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels using various instructional deliveries (e.g., traditional (face-to-face), hybrid, and fully online). To foster applied learning into the course design and engage with industry and local business community applied projects. To advance knowledge through scholarly activities (e.g., active involvement in committees, student mentorship, recruitment and retention initiative, outreach activities, etc.)
Essential Functions
Meet expectations for teaching and service, as set forth by the department and college.
Job Duties
Teach courses associated with Animation and Game Design.
Create effective learning activities, projects, and assignments.
Develop and update curriculum relevant to current industry standards.
Engage in departmental, college, and university service associated with WSU faculty promotion policies.
Opportunities may include teaching in other areas of expertise (e.g., audio production, filmmaking, etc.) depending upon department/program needs.
Required Education and Experience:
- Graduate level degree or Equivalent Experience in the Field
- Teaching experience
Faculty Requirements
Experience developing Animation and/or Game Design projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in 3D digital software/s.
- Continuing/ongoing connection/commitment to the Animation and Game Design industry.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to promote students' professional development.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to proofread and edit.
- Ability to build and sustain collaborative professional relationships with a diverse constituency of faculty, staff, students, and community/industry partners.
- Willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery and learning activities, including online and blended learning, flexible teaching methods, and applied learning approaches.
- Interest in and ability to recruit, advise, and mentor students.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency/experience with modeling software Maya and/or Blender
- Proficiency/experience with 3DS Max software
- Proficiency/experience with Cinema 4D software
- Proficiency/experience with Adobe Creative Cloud
- Proficiency/experience with ZBrush software
- Demonstrated successful teaching at the college or university level
