WSU's Industry & Defense Programs is seeking a Budget Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented with the initiative to work collaboratively with internal and external organization partners. This position will assist administration and staff in developing financial management strategies and budgets that are aligned with the unique resources of each unit to achieve the organization-wide goals established by executive leadership.
Job Summary
Advises and assists administration and staff in developing financial management strategies and budgets that are aligned with the unique resources of each unit to achieve the organization-wide goals established by executive leadership.
Essential Functions
Serves as a subject matter expert for the division in budgetary planning, educating on the appropriate application of related policies and procedures for budgetary management, as well as methods and data sources for accurate financial analysis.
Monitors financial and budgetary actions to ensure alignment with budgetary planning for the division. Engages with leadership and staff to recommend and implement course corrections. Prepares organization-wide revenue and expense estimates.
Utilizes software systems to deliver Finance Operation development and oversight, including support of the technology solution.
Develops Finance documents for use in monitoring and controlling ongoing operations of the division. Assists with development and implementation of new fiscal policies, systems and procedures.
Performs routine and ad hoc financial analysis, reports and presentations for leadership.
Prepares information developed by leadership for submission to other agencies and community partners.
Reconciles and analyzes account and subledger balances and activity to ensure accuracy and identify errors.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in public administration, accounting, finance, business, economics or related field
Three (3) years of experience in budget, planning, finance, accounting or related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently and within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of Banner Finance Accounting System experience.
Physical Requirements

Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
