Job Story
Performance Facilities, a support division within the College of Fine Arts (CFA), is responsible for management and operation of performance venues with the college. Miller Concert Hall (Duerksen Fine Arts Center), Wiedemann Hall (home to the Great Marcussen Organ), and the DFAC Outdoor Amphitheatre, primarily feature performances by the WSU School of Music, whereas Wilner Auditorium & Welsbacher Theatre are the resident home to the School of Performing Arts (Theatre, Dance, & Musical Theatre). Numerous events & performances from campus organizations or community groups may also occur in CFA venues and are supported by the department. Performance Facilities also provides a variety of technical support (audio, lighting, & staging) for Lowe Auditorium (Metropolitan Complex), CAC Theater, Koch Arena athletic events, WSU Commencement, and other non-venue campus events.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Areas of the Fine Arts Box Office, Video Archive/Streaming, & Audio Recording may have more specific qualifications, which previous related experience will be of benefit. Previous experience is not a requirement for employment consideration, but previous related work experience either in a related field or general performing arts experience is beneficial. On-the-job training is provided for all available student employee positions.
- STAGE OPERATIONS: Execution and management of all aspects relating to stage needs for events & performances as Deck Manager or general Deckhand. Setup, event management, and running operations of performances to provide for organized & well-run events reflective of the College of Fine Arts.
- FRONT OF HOUSE: Execution and management of all aspects relating to audience & patron support for attendees of events & performances as House Manager or Usher. Coordination with Deck Manager, Fine Arts Box Office to aid in a pleasant audience experience when attending events & performances reflective of the College of Fine Arts.
- TECHNICAL OPERATIONS: Support services provided by Sound, Lighting, & Video (presentation) Technicians for events and performances. Support services are provided within fine arts venues as well as select campus locations under management by other departments.
- VIDEO & AUDIO STREAMING & RECORDING: Production support services for events & performances presented by the College of Fine Arts provided by Video or Audio Producers, Engineers, or Operators.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Working evenings and weekends is required
Effective verbal and written communication skills, and ability to follow directions

Preferred Qualifications
Positions are for immediate hire, therefore it is required that an applicant already have been issued a social security card by the United States Social Security Administration.
Additional Information for Posting
Student positions within Performance Facilities have no guarantee for the total number of work hours per week. Work hours will vary dependent on personal availability, staffing requirements for those events on the schedule, and departmental needs. This does mean weekly work hours can and will vary greatly. No positions are available with a fixed weekly schedule and the maximum potential weekly work hour totals are governed by the university as det forth in Wichita State University Policies and Procedures guidelines. Positions are available for immediate hire pending a review process; therefore, it is required that an applicant must already have been issued a social security number (& card) by the United States Social Security Administration.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
