POSITION SUMMARY: The School Assistant supports the School Principal by relieving them of paperwork and administrative tasks, allowing them to focus on educational administration. POSITION SUMMARY: The School Assistant supports the School Principal by relieving them of paperwork and administrative tasks, allowing them to focus on educational administration. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Classifies, sorts, and files correspondence or other data;
- Collates and assembles printed matter;
- Compares information, statistics, or data with other records for verification;
- Proofreads, composes, and prepares correspondence;
- Computes, classifies, and transcribes data;
- Coordinates schedules;
- Acts as AESOP Site Coordinator;
- Acts as classified timesheet coordinator;
- Issues parent notifications on the ConnectEd system;
- Duplicates, photocopies, and prints school system forms and reports;
- Issues identification cards, work permits, age certificates, and similar documents;
- Issues permits for community use of school facilities;
- Issues timely announcements of upcoming events, deadlines, and similar notices;
- Maintains files for the Principal, Assistant Principal, and Athletic Director;
- Creates forms as needed;
- Keeps current information on all coaches;
- Completes requisition forms for WHS accounts;
- Maintains inventory of office supplies;
- Maintains records required by policy, regulation, law, or good practice;
- Manages Principal's and Assistant Principal's calendar and appointments;
- Manages all incoming calls for assigned administrative personnel;
- Assists with student assessment responsibilities;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Able to pass a fingerprint clearance and background check or maintain a current Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- High School Diploma;
- Minimum three years of progressively responsible secretarial experience requiring above-average skills, computer/word processing, basic accounting skills, and receptionist's skills;
- Experience with a school district preferred.
- Computer Skills - Demonstrated competency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing;
- Communication Skills - Ability to read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals; Ability to write general correspondence and speak effectively with others;
- Reasoning Ability - Ability to interpret assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms; Ability to apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.
