Job Summary: The Wise & Well Program Director is responsible for developing and administering a comprehensive resident engagement and activity program to meet the needs, interests, and capabilities of the Residents within Wickshires community. Assumes the responsibility to develop and administer a well-rounded community-wide social program schedule.
Essential Functions:
1. Assumes the responsibility for the design and development of recreation and activity programs to meet the assessed needs, interests, and capabilities of the Residents in the community.
2. Assists Residents in the community in acquiring knowledge related to leisure resource utilization on a daily basis.
3. Assesses and documents residents abilities and needs and records resident participation so this can be analyzed in relation to needs, interests, and past lifestyle.
4. Responsible for scheduling Wise and Well staff on appropriate days and shifts to ensure that all Residents programming needs are met.
5. Creates Resident Histories and Profiles with family involvement. Summarizes information from histories. Shares information with associates as well as develop activities based on these interests.
6. Attends resident evaluation conferences and other appropriate meetings as necessary.
7. Confers with other community personnel, leadership team, and families regarding resident interests, needs, and limitations, as well as the availability of resources.
8. Assures that all activities conform to the criteria of federal, state, and local accreditation and licensing agencies or organizations.
9. Assumes responsibility for scheduling and coordinating miscellaneous social programs for the entire community and specific units (i.e., educational programs, entertainment programs, special events, games, group programs, spiritual services, etc.).
10. Creates a monthly social program calendar, has the calendars printed, and distributes them to community personnel and residents.
11. Ability to drive the community vehicle to transport Community residents, including but not limited to providing transportation to local physician or dental offices, trips outside Wickshire for shopping, entertainment, education, and/or appointments, both non-medical and medical, outside of the Community, as assigned.
12. Coordinates programs with other departments in the community and interfaces with all personnel as appropriate.
13. Uses community resources in the development of programs.
14. Assists with the development and provision of training and orientation programs for students and volunteers.
15. Completes all mandatory compliance, HIPAA and state and federal regulatory training as required.
16. Maintains appropriate degree of confidentiality.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Bachelors Degree from a four-year college or university, or one to three years related experience and/or training in working with the Alzheimers population; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications, Licenses, and other Special Requirements: Assisted Living Activities certification, if required by State. Must be in possession of, or have the ability to obtain, a valid state drivers license.
