What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Math Intervention Teacher position at Wicomico County Public Schools?
SALARY
Commensurate with certification and experience based on the Wicomico County Salary Schedule for Teachers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold Maryland State Department of Education teaching certificate in Elementary 1-6.
Successful classroom experience in meeting the needs of students who struggle in mathematics at the elementary level.
Current WCPS employees must be tenured.
Leadership and personal qualities necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, and administrators.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Know, understand, and implement a variety of Instructional strategies related to mathematics.
Provide mathematics instruction to students in the classroom and in small group settings.
Locate and analyze appropriate data to identify students for intervention services.
Know and understand the Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards for Mathematics and the Eight Standards of Mathematical Practice.
Know, understand, and implement enVision Math Diagnostic Intervention System.
Understand and work within the three-tiered intervention delivery model to ensure all students requiring intervention receive timely and accurate assistance to become successful students in the area(s) of mathematics.
Serve as an active participant of the Student Services Team in assigned school to advise the team on reviewing student history and needs in relation to struggling learners.
Work in cooperation with the supervisor of mathematics to maintain skill levels in the areas of curriculum development and MSDE requirements in the areas of assessment and monitoring of student progress throughout the elementary grades.
Work with school-based teams to design and implement family involvement opportunities to ensure parents gain a deep understanding of their child’s mathematics skills, difficulties, and potential for success.
Provide ongoing training to all members of the school assigned in the monitoring and assessment of student mathematics progress, i.e. on-line mathematics assessment programs, anecdotal records, etc. for the purpose of data driven decision making as they plan for instruction.
Provide support, which may include co-teaching, to classroom teachers for flex group instruction.
Other duties as assigned by the building principal or supervisor.
