Contract Unit: This position is part of the non-supervisory support services bargaining unit.
FLSA: Non-exempt
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of three years’ experience in an office environment, preferably a human resources office.
Associate’s degree or HR Certificate is preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace including extensive experience in MS Excel and Word, and proven experience auditing and reconciling data between various data sources.
Thorough knowledge of the philosophy, principles, and practices of human resources.
Working knowledge of federal and state regulations, negotiated agreements, employee handbooks and Board policies is preferred.
Ability to present ideas effectively, both orally and in written form.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials. associates, employees and the general public.
Ability to conduct detailed analytical evaluations and studies and to prepare related reports and recommendations.
Ability to set-up, maintain, and manipulate data in Microsoft applications.
Ability to understand complex oral and written instructions.
Proven ability to adapt and quickly change direction, when necessary, in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Notary public a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct initial screening of applicants for positions in Wicomico County Public Schools.
Create and maintain job postings including assisting hiring managers throughout the process.
Create and send out board letters monthly after action taken at Board meetings.
Process transfers for the new school year once June rollover is complete.
Assist in the preparation for the annual Service Awards banquet including creation and review of the invitation list, work with the vendor for banquet reservations and set up/tear down.
Send out tenure letters annually.
Assist with the substitute hiring process.
Assist with new hire orientations, including but not limited to, data entry, updating personnel records and assisting with new hire onboarding.
Use various software programs in conducting duties, including but not limited to Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, Kronos, Business Plus, SchoolSpring, and PowerSchool Operation Products.
Serve as a back-up for coverage of front desk.
