SALARY
Commensurate with certification and experience based upon the Wicomico County Salary Scale for Teachers
HOURS Qualifications
Full-time 10-month position (190 contract days)
After school availability (once to twice a month)
Contract Unit: This position is part of the Unit I (Certificated) bargaining unit
Qualifications
- Valid Maryland State Department of Education teaching certificate.
- At least five (5) years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level.
- Experience designing and conducting in-services, workshops, and professional development (preferred).
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team player while demonstrating initiative in carrying out responsibilities.
- Proficiency with classroom technology.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Department of Professional Development with the New Teacher Summer Academy in mid-August.
- Co-teach the New Teacher Induction Course once a month after school.
- Co-plan, team-teach, and provide demonstration lessons for new and non-tenured teachers.
- Model effective instructional strategies.
- Provide support, training, and resources on classroom management, conflict resolution, equity, and cultural diversity.
- Offer coaching and specific feedback to new and non-tenured teachers on classroom performance.
- Monitor the professional growth and certification progress of new teachers and assist as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
