The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of heavy duty equipment and specialized equipment used in the maintenance and/or construction of dredge sites, borrow areas and landfills, as well as other solid waste maintenance or landfill duties.
Working knowledge of:
- the operating procedures of various makes & types of heavy-duty construction equipment;
- the safe operating limits of heavy equipment;
- landfill regulations;
- the principles of landfill engineering as they apply to maintenance & construction involving use of heavy equipment;
- the maintenance & repair of heavy equipment & gasoline/ diesel engines.
Ability to:
- Operate all types of heavy equipment
- make minor repairs to heavy equipment;
- assist with complex repairs of heavy equipment under the guidance of an automotive mechanic;
- understand safety trainings & execute instructions;
- train equipment operators;
- perform other related highway maintenance functions.
Qualifications
3 years experience in landfill and recycling operations. High School Diploma; Valid Class "B" Commercial; Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement; Valid DOT Physical Card; Homeland Security Certifications; Herbicide Spraying Certification; Forklift Certification; CPR & First Aid Certification; Fire Extinguisher Certification; Willingness to be on call 24/7 for emergency situations.

Pay: $36,710.00 - $43,986.00 per year
