Fox 40 News (WICZ-TV), serving the Southern Tier of New York, seeks a dynamic and engaging Weekend Weather Anchor/Meteorologist to join our award-winning news team. Position Overview:
As our Weekend Weather Anchor/Meteorologist, you will work closely with our chief meteorologist and play a key role in delivering accurate and compelling weather forecasts for our 10 p.m. weekend news, as well as providing updates on social media. This position reports directly to the Suh Neubauer, the news director.
Key Responsibilities:
- On-Air Presence: Anchor the 10 pm weathercast live or to tape, delivering clear and engaging weather forecasts.
- Weather Graphics: Use our advanced Baron weather system to create visually appealing and informative weather graphics.
- Severe Weather Coverage: Monitor for breaking weather, weather watches, and warnings, providing updates to viewers on air and on social media. You will work closely with our experienced Chief Meteorologist during severe weather events.
- Communication: Follow station newsroom guidelines and communicate clearly with the weekend producer, news nirector and chief meteorologist, especially during breaking weather situations.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge and proficiency in weather graphics systems. Experience using the Baron system is highly preferred.
- Excellent on-air delivery, with the ability to ad-lib smoothly and effectively across all platforms.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work under pressure, especially during severe weather events.
- Strong understanding of meteorological principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or a related Atmospheric Science field.
- Previous on-air broadcasting experience, including college TV stations, is not required but preferred.
