What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Operator (2nd Shift) position at WIKA USA?
WIKA USA is the leading global manufacturer of pressure and temperature measurement instrumentation, producing more than 43 million pressure gauges, diaphragm seals, pressure transmitters, thermometers and other instruments annually.
We are currently searching for two 2nd shift CNC Operators. The shift hours are 3:30pm-12:00am.
BASIC PURPOSE: The CNC Operator is responsible for the operation and set up of CNC Lathes/Mills.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB:
- Plans machining by studying work orders, Verifies blueprints, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Sets-up lathes/mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, and compensation; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving first part.
- Sets-up lathes/mills by adjusting collets, three-jaw chucks, and/or vise jaws, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, stops, and stock pushers or pullers.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to WIKA standards.
- Maintains specifications by observing CNC tools, sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Assist mechanics and machinists in repair work.
- Performs ancillary duties as required
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- 2-4 years previous experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- HSD or GED required
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Be able to work overtime if required. (including weekends)
- Basic skills in reading blueprints and basic math skills
- Basic knowledge of machine tool repair and maintenance preferred
- Fundamental knowledge of metal cutting and machining practices
Job Type: Full-time
