Position Overview
The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for marketing, advertising, public relations, graphic design, writing and event coordination to support the growth and expansion of Wildlife Safari.
Responsibilities
Publications, Website and Social Media
- Design and write (or coordinate the design and writing of) print materials including appeals, newsletters, posters, annual reports, ads, brochures, signage and event publications
- Coordinate mailing of print materials such as newsletters. Maintain various mailing list databases
- Maintain and continue to develop website. Keep content up-to-date and dynamic.
- Train and coordinate staff to update website and social media sites
- Produce and distribute regular e-mail communications to maintain contact with members and encourage traffic to website
- Track web stats, increase traffic, and work to improve search engine ranking
- Oversee maintenance and development of social media (blogging, online social networks, photo and video communities, mobile technology) to increase Wildlife Safari’s visibility, membership, fundraising and attendance
- Measure the impact of online tactics on overall marketing strategies
- Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, consultants and freelance talent as needed
- Manage the organization’s image library (photos, archives, work samples, etc.)
Advertising
- Manage advertising buys and placements, including newspaper, radio, television and bulletin boards. Oversee design of advertising campaigns and coordination of calendars
- Track effect of ad campaigns on targeted goals (i.e. increase in attendance). Design systems to track effectiveness
- Track and coordinate distribution of comp tickets, etc. Maintain records of all active discount offers and coupons, such as Groupon
- Keep admissions and gate staff informed regarding special offers, coupons, etc.
Public and Press Relations
- Develop engaging story angles; write and distribute press releases and media kits
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with members of the press
- Develop and maintain a media contact database
- Manage and track distribution of Wildlife Safari brochures to tourism and other outlets
- Assist staff in preparing for interactions with the media and maintain employee awareness concerning the importance of positive media relations. Encourage employees to identify new visibility opportunities to pitch to the media
- Develop strategies to deal with confidential or sensitive issues as they arise
- Conduct marketing/PR research. Stay updated on AZA marketing research
Qualifications
- Must possess ability to juggle multiple responsibilities
- Must have leadership and organizational skills
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Must be able to pass a drug test, including for marijuana
- Candidates must agree to a background check
