Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of WildPlay Niagara Falls, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and a positive work environment for all staff. This role provides leadership across multiple departments and all sites of the company. The Operations Manager also plays a key role in risk management, financial oversight, strategic planning, identifying opportunities for growth, cost savings, and efficiency improvements.
Responsibilities and duties include but aren’t limited to:
- Being vigilant and committed to the daily operations of the organization, reporting any issues/concerns to the General Manager
- Give direction and leadership to all departments in the organization
- Ensure all company procedures and policies are adhered to
- Follow all financial restrictions (i.e. budget’s) set out by the General Manager
- Participate in regular meetings regarding financial results and operational variances and performance
- Hire and dismiss all staff when approved by the General Manager
- Oversee organization’s labour hours and operational schedules for both parks
- Maintain a good working environment for all staff
- Attend ownership meetings when directed by the General Manager
- Review employee timesheets weekly and authorize Financial Director to move forward with payroll
- Represent WildPlay Niagara Falls (NAE) in a professional manner
- Bring new ideas of efficiency, cost saving, and revenue generating opportunities to the General Manager
- Work directly with WildPlay Park Services and with entirety of leadership team
- Provide updates on operational schedules as needed, including all NAE partners
- Generate a list of capital items for budgeting purposes
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the General Manager
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Management experience within a fast-paced organization, preferably in the tourism industry (150 employees)
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience with a proven ability to direct and support multiple departments
- Experience in a risk-management position, including identifying potential hazards and implementing safety protocols
- Knowledge of financial management, including adhering to budget restrictions, reviewing financial results, and identifying cost-saving measures
- Dedicated andâ¯highly motivated to lead others
- Expertise in WildPlay's products, services, and park processes considered an asset
- Strong technical abilities, including the ability to work with standard Microsoft Office applications, reservation systems,â¯with the willingness to learn new software and computerâ¯systems
- Demonstrated ability to exceed guest expectations
- Able to multi-task, adhere to timelines, and solve problems with attention to detail
- Excellent written andâ¯verbal communication skills
- Solid judgment and critical thinking skills
- Bilingualism considered an asset, but not required
- Formal, post-secondary education in related fields considered an asset but not required
- Physical demands include standing, sitting, and occasional bending/twisting/ kneeling
Work Relationships:
The Operations Manager reports to the General Manager. The Operations Manager will be responsible for being the direct supervisor to both the Element Specialist and Guest Service Specialist.
Work Schedule:â¯â¯â¯â¯
The Guest Service Supervisor works a flexible schedule of full-time work based on the needs of the business.â¯There will be requirements to travel to various site locations when appropriate (e.g. Zipline to the Falls, Whirlpool Adventure Course, Niagara Contact Centre). Schedule demands include working both evenings, weekends, and holidays,â¯and when appropriate and beneficial to job responsibilities.
