As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will be responsible for creating a positive and inclusive environment where campers feel safe, supported, and inspired. You will lead activities, supervise groups, and serve as a role model for overnight campers entering grades 3-8. This is a hands-on role perfect for individuals passionate about working with kids and enjoying the great outdoors.

Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise and ensure the safety of campers during daily activities and overnight stays.
- Lead and participate in camp activities such as hiking, swimming, target sports, arts and crafts, fishing, and team-building exercises.
- Encourage positive social interactions, conflict resolution, and teamwork among campers.
- Foster a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment where all campers feel valued and confident.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to campers, helping them develop new skills and grow in their personal abilities.
- Assist with morning and evening routines, mealtimes, clean-up, and other camp duties as needed.
- Communicate with fellow counselors and camp leadership to ensure a seamless camp experience.
- Ensure camp rules and policies are followed, maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all.
- Be a positive role model for campers and fellow staff members.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 17 years old.
- Previous experience working with children in a camp, recreational, or educational setting is preferred but not required.
- Enthusiastic, patient, adaptable, and passionate about working with kids in the outdoors.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children and work as part of a team.
- Ability to handle group dynamics and resolve conflicts in a calm and positive manner.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
- Training and/or experience in mental health, crisis response, and trauma-informed care are a plus as Wildwood serves a high percentage of low-income youth.
- Comfortable spending extended time outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs.).
- Ability to pass a background check.

Summer Work Schedule:
5 p.m. on Sunday through 5 p.m. on Friday each week from late May 2025 through early August 2025. Summer Camp Counselors are required to live on-site during summer camp sessions.
