Job Overview

Duties
- Conduct pickleball lessons for individuals and groups, ensuring a positive learning environment.

- Provide feedback and guidance to students on technique, strategy, and game play.
- Organize and oversee pickleball classes, tournaments, and events to promote participation in the sport.
- Foster a supportive atmosphere that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth among participants.
- Collaborate with other sports professionals to integrate pickleball into broader athletic programs.
- Maintain equipment and facilities to ensure a safe playing environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in pickleball coaching or instruction is required
- Experience working with students of various ages and skill levels is essential.
- Strong behavior management skills to effectively engage participants in learning activities.
- Ability to navigate various physical environments as needed during coaching sessions.

Education and Experience
- College degree preferred but not required.
- Undergraduate major in Physical Education or Sports Management desirable.
- Two to three years of competitive playing experience and/or Pickleball supervisory experience.
- Experience running junior development programs, programs and events
- Knowledge of court maintenance
- At least 2 years of experience in pb instruction
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
- Able to promote and teach private and group lessons to juniors and adults on indoor and outdoor courts
- Plays or represents the club (where applicable)
- Paddle knowledge and ability to maintain.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations
- Non-compete: only performing professional duties for Wildwood
Job Summary (Essential Functions)
Assist DOP in management of all facilities and activities related to pickleball.
Job Tasks/Duties
- Provides group (club programming) Pickleball instruction as assigned by DOP
- Develop safe, professional, and comprehensive tennis lessons and programs to ensure students develop along a pathway that will encourage continued involvement and a positive club experience.
- Monitor, demonstrate, and instruct students on proper technique, tactics and strategies to improve their overall pb game.
- Promote and coordinate adult in-house leagues and pb socials where applicable.
- Communicates with the director to schedule and publicize club pb events.
- Assists with special events and tournaments (where needed)
- Records court reservations and lesson appointments.
- Helps keep the facility clean and in proper order.
- Attends staff meetings as assigned by DOP
- Works/manages corporate events and socials as assigned and agreed upon by the DOP
- Assists Director, and completes other appropriate tasks assigned by the Director related to the Pickleball business
- Performs job tasks in compliance with the Clubs standards and values.
- Develops and build a private lesson/private group schedule
- Maintains a full-time teaching schedule over a 48-week year (30 hours taught weekly).
- Full time includes a 5 ½ to 6-day work week during the busy season (FOR FULL TIME POSITION).
- Quickly and efficiently respond to member questions, comments, and concerns.
- Actively participate in integrating new members into the Wildwood tennis/pb program. “Club Perspective”
- Identify inactive pb players and re-engage them in appropriate programs.
- Demonstrate positive attitude and actions through a display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity, and professionalism to internal and external customers.
- Operates under the WRWC core values and standards.
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Certification with a reputable Pickleball Organization. (SPTA/PTR/PPR/PPTR/PPTA).
- 4.5 pb play ability
- CPR/AED certified within 30 days of hire
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to control natural swing speed during instruction or matches with inexperienced players.
- Sufficient stamina to tolerate hot and humid outdoor weather for several consecutive hours.
- Continuous standing, walking, running, bending, stooping and repetitive actions.
- Frequent use of light machinery and hand-held tools.
- Frequent lifting and moving of objects.

The timeline for the Head Pro position is, in part, determined by the effort and progress of the person who fills this role, as well as the growth of the pickleball program.
