Role Overview:
Reporting to the Group VP Marketing, you will shape and execute Wiley's digital marketing transformation while leading a high-performing team. Your vision will drive innovative digital marketing programs that accelerate customer acquisition and deepen customer relationships across Wiley's portfolio.
With a remit encompassing marketing automation, web marketing, advertising, marketing technology workflow and platforms you will be a crucial driver of these changes and at the forefront of how we evolve our Marketing function. Critical to the success of this role, will be close liaison with several teams across the business to ensure a customer centric approach to marketing, including Data & Analytics, Field Marketing and Technology.
Key focus areas include:

- Developing cutting-edge digital marketing strategies aligned with business objectives
- Building and mentoring a team of digital marketing specialists
- Orchestrating personalized customer journeys across multiple channels
- Leveraging marketing technology to drive efficiency and scale
- Establishing digital KPIs and optimization frameworks
- Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to drive digital transformation
- Continue the build out of a best in class marketing growth engine focused on developing multi-channel campaign strategies, tracking, attribution, automation and optimisation, supported with compelling business cases.
- Advise on the use of the most appropriate digital marketing platforms and tools to support overall digital engagement and communications strategies, partnering with the Data & Analytics and Technology teams to implement where appropriate.
- Lead the team in the delivery of planned programmes, including the development and achievement of a digital maturity roadmap, including
- Planning, launching and scaling new acquisition channels and programmes underpinned by robust measurement and attribution frameworks.
- Driving retention and win back marketing performance and scale through data driven automation practices and technology.
- Defining and implementing optimum digital channel mixes and continuous test and learn strategies to maximise growth potential.
- Ensuring measurement and reporting frameworks are maintained and insights used as the basis for decisions on future performance optimisation.
- Ensuring SLAs are adhered to and partnering with the field marketing leads to address challenges when issues arise.
- Manage the procurement of applications, vendors, agencies and associated marketing technologies, managing investment to scale.
- Build, lead and mentor the Digital Marketing team - instill an agency mindset and partnering culture.
- Operate as part of the Marketing Leadership Team, play a key role in the continued evolution of the broader Marketing function across Wiley.
- Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on strategy and key KPIs.
- Highly collaborative with strong ability to lead through influence; well-versed in building consensus and driving cross-discipline teams towards a common vision; adept at navigating global executive organisations.
- Extensive digital marketing and customer acquisition experience either agency or client side at an international level – clear understanding on commercial drivers for D2C and subscription business models.
- Deep experience in CRM and marketing automation systems (Salesforce and Adobe).
- Results focused, and action oriented to prioritise speed – to enable driving our performance marketing agenda at pace.
- Experience in building, leading and mentoring a geographically diverse and multi-disciplinary team
- International experience of key platforms and dynamics, particularly UK, North America, China, Asia-Pacific.
- Strong track record in driving, and future proofing, rapid scale and control through robust automation.
- Strong focus on ROI and efficiency of campaigns, with experience in driving forward CLTV based optimisations.
- Data-driven mindset, with the ability to mix short term ROI with longer term payback, when relevant. Comfortable using data to make decisions, both tactical and strategic.
