Wilkes University invites applicants for a Human Resources (HR) and Payroll Assistant in the office of Human Resources and Payroll. The HR and Payroll Assistant is the first point of contact for phone, e-mail and in-person department inquiries and visitors. This position is responsible for addressing employee requests, answering routine questions, and/or referring to the appropriate department member when necessary. They provide, receive and process various human resources, student employment, benefit and payroll forms, and review for accuracy and completeness; and provide general office/administrative support to the department, including working on various projects as needed.
The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and problem solving abilities, in addition to strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to successfully manage multiple repsonsibilities and projects in a faced paced envrionment, especially during peak times of operations, is essential. Candidates should have intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, e-mail and other general administrative computer applications.
An associate's degree is required; bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and one to three years' experience preferred. The successful candidate will have general knowledge of applicable employment and payroll laws, employee benefit plans, and HR policies. Experience working with an HRIS and/or timekeeping systems and corresponding processes and procedures are preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
