Wilkey Industries is an agricultural and industrial based metal fabrication shop that specializes in agricultural machinery, food processing equipment and dust control systems, and is currently looking for qualified CAD designers/engineers looking to grow with an established company creating quality products.
Position Summary
Drafter is responsible for creating and verifying complex project designs, ranging from facility equipment process layouts to smaller equipment upgrades, and is responsible for creating and updating construction drawings and BOMs. Drafters work with customers, vendors and other contractors and with sales, purchasing, production and service departments to ensure projects meet expectations, deadlines and budgets.
Position Requirements
- Superior knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks software, Microsoft office.
- Ability to work in a team environment. Be able to create, file and update drawings, BOMs and other information in accordance with departmental policy. Be able to work directly with other designers and production and service personnel on various aspects of any project.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess strong work ethic, show attention to details, and focus on goals and deadlines.
- Possess a valid CA driver’s license. Position requires occasional day-time travel to jobsites in order to measure and verify project details and create as-built drawings. Must be able to create detailed CAD drawings from hand sketches or concept drawings.
- Must be able to work seasonal overtime as directed by management.
- Excellent math skills. Must be able to design and calculate conveyance capacities, horsepower requirements, power transmission components, intricate ducting systems, and industrial fans is preferable.
- High school diploma or GED certificate minimum. Technical/trade school or college, a plus. Bachelor degree and mechanical engineering preferred.
- Ability to create hand sketches and take field verification measurements to share design concepts with customer, shop or installation crews.
- Nut harvesting retrieval equipment design is a plus.
- Experience with general metal fabrication, sheet metal layout, welding is a plus.
Compensation is based on work experience and knowledge of the industry.
