Position Summary: The Pump Down Equipment Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and transporting equipment used in pump down operations during wireline or perforation stages of well completions. This role ensures safe and efficient execution of pump down operations while supporting overall field service activities. Operators work in a high-paced, team-oriented oilfield environment.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Operate high-pressure pump down units to support wireline operations in horizontal wells.
- Rig up/down pump down and support equipment in accordance with company procedures and safety standards.
- Maintain and inspect all equipment before, during, and after operations to ensure peak performance.
- Monitor and control fluid volumes, pressures, and rates during pump down.
- Assist in preparing job-related documentation including pre-job checks, post-job inspections, and daily reports.
- Coordinate closely with wireline crews, supervisors, and other service providers on location.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as needed.
- Comply with all DOT, OSHA, and company HSE standards.
- Drive equipment to and from job sites; must have or be able to obtain a CDL.
- Participate in safety meetings, JSA reviews, and follow safe work practices at all times.
- Work extended hours, including nights and weekends, in varying weather conditions.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 1 year of pump down, wireline, or pressure pumping experience preferred.
- Valid CDL Class A required.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hydraulic systems and high-pressure pumping.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments and lift 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions:
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
