Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for oversight of accounting functions as well as the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams. Willamette Dental employes 1400 people, generates $200M in annual sales across multiple financial entities regulated by GAAP and National Association of Insurance Commissioners. We provide proactive dental care, excellent dentists, and affordable dental insurance across Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
Essential Position Functions
- This position will be a member of the GL team and will report to the Controller.
- Manage the accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) teams to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with GAAP,
- while addressing tight deadlines and multiple entity accounting activities including journal entry preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit support, tax compliance support, quarterly compliance reporting for external agencies and support of budget activities.
- Manages the daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting reconciliations, journal entries, close and financial reporting to timely and fully record expense accruals and prepaids for the various financial entities and cost centers.
- Creates business efficiencies and quality improvements that enhance quality of work in accounting function at the same time as the services delivered by the business.
- Assist internal and/or external auditors with periodic auditing or the organization’s financial records and statements.
- Performs complex tasks typically following established processes.
- Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
- Participates in testing and process improvements of the ERP system resulting in increased financial integrity.
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Leads and directs the staff and work of the A/P, A/R, financial reporting and has full authority for personnel decisions.
- Serve as point of escalation for A/R and A/P issues.
- Provide training to new and existing staff as needed; handle personnel issues relating to staff.
- Work with each direct report to establish SMART goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance professional development of staff.
- Understands the business and business priorities.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required, Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- 5-8 years Accounting Experience, with a minimum of 2 years supervising or managing an accounting team.
- Experience with multiple entity accounting and reporting is preferred.
Licenses, Certificate and Registrations
- CMA/CPA designation strongly desired
Salary : $116,000 - $134,000
