What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle Grades Language Arts and Social Studies Instructor position at Willamette Valley Academy?
Willamette Valley Academy is seeking a full-time experienced teacher to join our school for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and inspiring students to learn and develop their intellectual and emotional capacities.
This position is for English/Humanities teacher, grades 6 through 8. Teachers who can also teach a Spanish class will receive bonus pay.
The candidate will also have a passion for growing our Humanities program by facilitating extra-curricular activities related to language arts, writing, and history.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver in-school instruction in Reading, Writing, Social Studies, and Speech and Debate
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and fellow teachers.
- Teach various instructional methods
- Prepare and/or administer assessments to evaluate student performance
- Observe and record students’ progress and provide parents with information about their children’s development and behavior
- Attend teacher training sessions and workshops when needed
- Supervises students during assigned times.
- Develop and facilitate the implementation of enrichment and extra-curricular programs.

- Proven experience as a teacher
- Ability to teach in a creative manner and inspire students with their own passion for learning
- Willingness to adhere to all school’s policies and procedures
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as a mediator between students and their parents

Qualifications
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Proven experience in teaching Language Arts and Social Studies
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in literacy education and curriculum development
- Familiarity with standardized testing and instructional design
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
- Experience in mentoring and tutoring students
- Knowledge of educational technology and resources

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
